Read a Book, Watch a Movie And Call It Training!


I have been lucky to learn about running from so many incredible people, including each one of my clients. I have also had the privilege of learning from greats like Arthur Lydiard.

One training method I use that does little to raise my VO2 max, but lots to raise my running IQ is to read books and watch movies about running. Some are informational and some are inspirational.

I can't tell you how many times Jay and I have watched the movie MIRACLE about the 1980
US hockey team it makes me want to run and be a better coach!

I enjoy watching just about anything when I am riding my rollers, though I find it difficult to follow subtitles without falling off. : ) With rare exceptions, such as Breaking Away, the movies that really get me cranking would generally not make my "all-time favorite films" list. A few off the top of my head -

*Men of Honour
*G.I. Jane
*Coach Carter
