Update

Just a quick note to let everyone who has been checking the time splits page know that Lisa is okay and at the hotel.

Lisa didn't make it to Almost Amboy this year, but did go far beyond what she was able to do last year. I'm afraid I don't have many details to offer, but I did get a message earlier on from Cathy about the weather: "bitter cold, rain and wind... Lisa is having a hard time with the wind. Very strong, gusty winds.... 30-40mph with stronger gusts."

As soon as I hear more, I'll give updates.

Putting your toe or pedal on the start line takes tremendous courage. Training just happens. Commitment on race day takes strength. Lisa, you have the biggest heart of anyone i know. All the children dont care about the desert cup, just survival. You have ensured this!

Lisa, what you have accomplished is amazing, and I don't mean the running and the cycling. While those are both incredible achievements and extremely inspirational, I am most inspired by what you have done for "The Children." As my friend Will said, 'the Cup doesn't matter;' you have sacrificed yourself (once again) for the benefit of others. In my book, that is the greatest accomplishment of all.

You are my hero and always will be, Cup or no Cup. You have the biggest heart of all the people I know and to all of us that know you, you are an inspiration.
Love and hugs to you,
Tess

Lisa - I know you endured some pretty tough times out there. Know that in doing so, you have helped so very many kids! The journey and the process are what makes this so important and meaningful to the kids and all of us. You are such an inspiration! All the best to you!

Lisa, I am so sad to hear about your race, but know that you always make t he best, smartest decision. I am so proud of everything you have done this summer in your quest for the children. You were herculean in your efforts this summer at Badwater and when you were done, you did not look like you did anything more than an easy jog. You are a super hero!

Good quote Joe presented. And and the journey was not only the one from mile 0 to mile 4xx, but mostly to get to the starting line, and not only in good shape, but how many people you have touched along the way.

Dear Lisa,
God bless you.
I know this great disappointment of not completing an event. I failed to finish the 2002 MdS and at the wrap up party i was feeling extremely depressed. During that party, Kory Helean from the US team came up to me, gave me a big hug and said ' Kevin, you did enough'.
I can say that to you too Lisa, 'you did enough'. God bless you.

Lisa,
Do not beat yourself over the head about this my dear - you gave it
everything you had, and some that you did not. Your health is most
important, and you have 2 little girls to think about, plus your loving
husband.
Take time to recover, regroup, and then finish those last miles.
Rules of rally-car driving:
1.safe
2.fun
3.finish
4 then go fast
These apply to endurance events too!

#1 priority is always safety, and didn't we exercise that option in BW?
I am very proud of you,
Love,
Marie

Lisa,
I am so proud of you. You put yourself on the line for the kids and raised over $500,000!!! That's what it's all about. You inspire me and so many people to live life to the fullest. Go home and rest, you deserve it. I am praying for your body to heal and for you to find peace with the fact that God is not done with you yet. You did not fail, because God can not fail and he was with you all along this journey. He has more plans for you, so until then, be proud of your accomplishments.
Proudly,
Judy

Lisa,

You did great! Hey, it's all about the journey, right? You have raised an incredible amount of money which will help kids have a chance at life! How cool is that?!? Anyway, your health is nothing to fool around with. Your kids and husband need you! Cuddle up with them and let their love heal you!
Love ya,
Chris

I think you're amazing for going to far on the journey even though it did not go as planned. It actually is a good lesson to me and maybe others about listening to and taking care of your body. We are both mothers and no matter what we need to be there for our children so I am proud of your decision not to put yourself in danger. There will always be another race but as far as I know we only get once chance at life!

Lisa,

I just wanted to offer that you are most definitely not a quitter, it takes a special quality to be able to face the 508 two years in a row. Most of us can only dream.

You should be proud of yourself, congratulations on finishing the Furnace Creek 450 + / - !!.

Best, Joe
