Consider helping Team4ward Motion! Great cause

Hi friends....my friends Chris and Erin: read there story..read about the amazing challenge they are going to take on...make a donation! Go Chris...

Since 1994, CAF has raised more than $21 million – allowing the Foundation to satisfy thousands of funding requests from challenged athletes in all 50 states and dozens of countries.

Whether it’s a $2000 handcycle, helping underwrite a running prosthetic or arranging enthusiastic encouragement from a mentor who has triumphed over a similar injury; CAF’s mission is clear: give those with the desire to live active, competitive lifestyles every opportunity to compete in the sports they love.

At the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens,Greece 45 of the 235 participating U.S. athletes (almost 20%) were supported by CAF. More recently at the 2006 Winter Paralympic games in Torino, Italy, CAF supported 23 of the 56 (41%) participating U.S. athletes.

We are very excited that CAF is developing a foothold in Northeast Florida. Starting March 13, 2010, CAF will forge a new partnership with the Gate River Run - the US National 15k Championship.

Through the Race for a Reason program, anyone that is interested in participating in the Gate River Run and raising money for CAF can register as an individual or team and start fundraising for this worthy cause.
As a prelude to this event and to raise awareness for CAF, Chris will be be running a Jax Double. He will run the Jacksonville Bank Marathon twice, 52.4 for CAF.
Also, on April 19th 2010 Chris and several other CAF supporters will be running a second double marathon in Boston supporting the same mission!
We have formed Team4WardMotion.
This will serve as our personal base for CAF fundraising for these and events to come.
Please help us as we work to raise funds for CAF and raise awareness in NE Florida for this amazing organization. CAF works to make sure that people with physical challenges have the same freedom to enjoy sports that the rest of us take for granted.
Please check out our team page to see some of what we are trying to do.
Keep the run up, Chris and ErinFollow This Link to visit my personal web page and help me in my efforts to support Challenged Athletes Foundation

Living Life

Live your life that the fear of death
can never enter your heart.
Trouble no one about his religion.
Respect others in their views
and demand that they respect yours.
Love your life, perfect your life,
beautify all things in your life.
Seek to make your life long
and of service to your people.
Prepare a noble death song for the day
when you go over the great divide.
Always give a word or sign of salute when meeting
or passing a friend, or even a stranger, if in a lonely place.
Show respect to all people, but grovel to none.
When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light,
for your life, for your strength.
Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living.
If you see no reason to give thanks,
the fault lies in yourself.
Touch not the poisonous firewater that makes
wise ones turn to fools and robs their spirit of its vision.
When your time comes to die, be not like those
whose hearts are filled with fear of death,
so that when their time comes they weep and pray
for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way.
Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

You know you are an Ultra Runner When?

1) Your feet look better without toenails.
2) Your idea of a fun date is a 30-mile training run.
3) You're tempted to look for a bush when there's a long line for the public restroom.
4) Peeing in the toilet seems unnatural
5) You don't think twice about eating food you've picked up off the floor.
6)You can expound on the virtues of eating salt.
7) You develop an unnatural fear of mountain lions.

8) You have more buckles than belts.
9 )Your ideal way to celebrate your birthday is to run at least your age in miles with some fellow crazies.
10 You run marathons for speed work.
11) When "NEXT GAS 36 MILES" signs start sounding like tempting runs.
12) You visit a national park with your family and notice a thirty-mile trail connecting where you are with the place your family wants to visit next, which is a 100-mile drive away, and you think "Hmmmm".

Dreamchaser Marie Boyd rocks 24 hour!

Our Marie Boyd,,,she sure gets better and better as the years go by! 93.5 miles in 24 hours! 2nd in her age group, 5th women overall. But: Broke the 61 year old record. Marie..we love you!

. USATF keeps year by year records, and I have broken the previous record for 61 year old women. Of course, I do not know by how much, or who was the previous record holder. This of course is pending ratification by USATF. For now, I would just stick with "broke the previous National record distance for 61 year old women".

Love this Quote!

We deceive ourselves when we fancy that only weakness needs support.
Strength needs it far more.’
‘A man sees in the world what he carries in his heart.’
‘If the loser keeps his smile, the winner will lose the thrill of victory.’
‘Never look down on anybody unless you are helping him up.’
‘Whenever you win in life, win as if you are used to it … And whenever you lose in life, lose as if you have enjoyed losing for a change.’
‘At first dreams seem impossible, then improbable, then inevitable.’

Dreamchasers Michele Jensen crushed XTERRA marathon!

MAKI, JENSEN CONQUER FIRST EVER XTERRA MARATHON

October 4, 2009 (Colorado Springs, CO) – The inaugural XTERRA Marathon of Trail Races welcomed a sold-out field of 300 runners to the beautiful and wild Cheyenne Mountain State Park yesterday morning. Colorado runners had their wish come true as XTERRA teamed up with acclaimed race director Victoria Seahorn to finally bring the XTERRA Trail Run Series to the Centennial State. The event marked the very first time XTERRA has offered a marathon distance race in its popular Trail Run Series, and athletes welcomed the challenge with inspiring enthusiasm. Eric Maki and Michele Jensen set the bar high winning the men’s and women’s races respectively. Maki’s top time of 4:05:02 was good enough to edge out runner-up Justin Walker by almost 7 minutes while Jensen dominated the women in 4:32:07, more than 30 minutes ahead of second place Nancy Citriglia. Boulder’s Will Kelsey, 27, a longtime XTERRA Ambassador and triathlete turned in the top time of 1:42:42 for the half-marathon distance just a week after placing in the top ten of the prestigious XTERRA USA Championship off-road triathlon. Winning for the women was Nicole Mahobian in 1:58:69. Along with the two endurance events, the day also held a 5-kilometer fun run for those looking for a smaller taste of XTERRA. Nacho Mata and Lauren Dvoracek claimed the top spots in 23:59 and 25:17 respectively. According to Seahorn, “This was definitely a complete XTERRA course with its tough terrain and picturesque setting. We had perfect running weather, awesome sponsors, amazing volunteers, and incredible athletes. The day was truly a day that none of us will ever forget.” This was the first of three events making up the brand new XTERRA Colorado Trail Run Series for 2010. Top athletes in the marathon and half-marathon races will be awarded points to start out their series totals. Those ending the season with the highest scores will be crowned XTERRA Regional Champions and awarded free entry to the XTERRA Trail Running National Championship next fall. Final details for the next two events are still in the works, so Colorado runners are encouraged to stay tuned.
